I'm fine with going a bit beyond stats like batting average and ERA. I'm okay with home/away splits, righty vs left, defensive shifts, etc.
I'm not so cool on WAR, why compare a star player to his potential AAA replacement ?
There is another stat... Wins above average that makes more sense.
It seems there is some new micro- stat every day, like a tout with hundreds of versions of a record
